Finally started the construction of my new basement layout.

I had Richard Schutt design the layout and the it fits in a room approximately 13x13. There will eventually be a second elevated level with 072 track work.

All sectional curves are Ross and Ross switches. Straights will be Gargraves. All powered by a Z4000 and a few power bricks.

I have a new Base 3 ready and a last generation TIU with WiFi interface. I also have about a dozen Menards buildings in storage when the time comes.

Benchwork is a L girder style made from 2x4s.  1x4 material was way more expensive and super crooked; even for “quality” grade. Surprisingly the 2x material has been super straight.

Top will be 3/4” plywood topped with 1/2” homasote. Ballast will be done with Brennan’s Better Ballast when the time comes.

I will keep this thread up to date as things progress. I’ll only be able to pick away at it a few hours at a time.
