Some circuit breakers are slower to react than others.
Would extra ground wires, especially along a spur section which currently gets it’s ground from the outside rail from an adjacent loop, help the circuit breaker react quicker?
The effect is likely difficult to impossible to quantify. You can certainly change the response by lowering the impedance (resistance) in the path, but how much effect it would have is difficult to predict.
Thermal breakers react to current flow, the more current, the faster they trip. So, it you increase the current for the short, clearly you'll reduce the trip time of the breaker.
