I am planning a new layout that has to be very small (4x8). It is for my son and I to run together so there are two separate lines, one at base level, and one up about 6" above base to add more interest. I have this crazy idea of wanting to be able to transfer a cargo between the lines. So I thought about coal. I have an idea for a chute and tipple system to dump coal from the upper line To the lower line. Now the question is, how to get coal from the lower line up high enough to be loaded into a car on the upper line.seems like it might have to raise it up as much as 8".
My first thought was a conveyer belt system like Lionel's #397, but I've no idea how I might go about making one from scratch. Any ideas Would be greatly appreciated.
