That was both fun and heartwarming.
nice!
Thanks for putting together the video Eric!
Very nice layout, thanks for the video.

Thanks! Great video!

I'd like to publicly thank Erick, Jeff MacDonald, Ed Miller, Dave Stewart, and talented A&O crew for inviting this easterner to see some fabulous O scale modeling. My only regret was that we didn't have more time to get to know each other better and talk about approaches to the hobby - I had to shorten the visit to drive up to ski country ahead of a good size winter storm. Hopefully some of the guys will stop by and see my railroad when near Williamsburg and give me some additional pointers. I should add that I made initial contact with the group after seeing Eric's posts on the forum - thanks OGR!
Erik, Excellent. Thanks. Can you tell us who's layout this is and where it's located in general. If privacy and security are issues, I understand. Bill
Fantastic layout! thanks for sharing.
As always, totally cool. What was the source of the pendulum car seen in the background?
Thank you to all who were responsible for the layouts in the video, and Eric, thank you for producing the video. Absolutely wonderful stuff.
Music by Jeff Lorber, now there was a flashback to the past, used to be one of my favorite jazz fusion artists in the late 70s.
Regards,
Jerry
Erik's videos/photos are always well done. Really enjoy his stuff.
On a side note-I'd almost do anything to have that OMI brass coaling tower on the HPR. It'd have to be painted already, I don't think I could bring myself to paint/cover up all that beautiful brass!
Just as an aside the Forum and Blog sections of the A&O website, the important sections, are no longer functioning. Assume A&O are aware but until fixed unable to keep up with developments on this amazing layout.

IS that a CB Radio, ? 1: 22 mark : and what or how are they used!!? Nothing like recycling old truckers tools
Ian, it is true that the A&O Forums are down; temporarily. The website host is doing some maintenance work.
ARRSD90, That's not a CB (but it sure does look like one!). I don't know exactly what it is but it is part of the ambient room sound for that part of the layout. Bob Sobol has built a sound system for that area to produce "mood music" thunderstorm sounds. The sound is tied into a lighting effect that matches lighting to the thunder. The whole scene is isolated from the rest of the layout. We call this area the rain room. The lights are dimmer, and the scenery will reflect a wet atmosphere.
It's been a while since I've looked at progress on the A&O 2. Well done!
Erik, fantastic production. Thanks.
Thanks for the thoughts and reply, about the sound system amazing imagination of folks, which would appear a super enhancement , to the whole layout effect.- Terry
Erik, What an inspiration! Thank you for sharing the video... This is ONE incredible layout!
Eriks video shows two layouts. The first one, without scenery (yet) is David Stewart's A&O. The second one is Jeff MacDonald's beautifully-detailed layout.
The "CB radio" in the A&O rain room is just an inexpensive class D stereo power amplifier. Not visible behind that sits a thunderstorm controller board that synchronizes 9 camera flash LEDs to an hour long MP3 thunderstorm recording.
The A&O blog is back up. If you have been there before, you will need to clear your computer's/device's internet cache to follow the links to the blog from the main page; http://www.aorailroad.com/

All of the old content is there. You don't need to sign up to look around.
That was a lot of fun to watch. 2 expertly crafted layouts, a bunch of excellent motive power and a excellent video of it all. Great job!
It would appear that F-units are still very popular...

Thanks Eric, I've been wondering what was going on on the A&O 2.0. Dave used to have a website he posted to, does he now?
