Used this stuff once YEARS ago and I remember it being a bit on the spongy side but compared to cork, very easy to use and would be willing to try it again. Anyone have yeas or nays on it? Easy to use with O Gauge (Black tie) tubular? Any issues with heavy engines?

Matt,
I used it on my black tie layout and we used it on the club layout using Atlas track. It is easy to work with, acts a bit as a sound deafener, attaches with glue and has not had any problems. It also adheres to the watered down glue that is used to secure ballast. I have never heard any problem with it.

I have used the HO and O versions of this product and have no complaints at all. In fact, it is now my "standard" roadbed material (replacing Midwest Cork, which I used for many years in all gauges).
I used it to deaden the drumming effect on a simple o27 oval x-mas tree platform my grandpop built in the 70's. I found it easy to use. Unlike cork where you can pull it apart you have to cut the peices in half length wise along a seam, whatever.
I used the staple method as glue and pinning was a pia with the 27 curves. I re-covered it with new felt and placed the track on top and put a screw in every other peice or so. Sooo much more quite. Very pleased.
If there is a down side, you have to be much more careful if you nail or screw your track down, it's much more easily crushed than cork.
