In my hometown we had this idea of putting together a train display for the Christmas season in our Town Hall. None of us, (there was 3 guys including me) are "real railroader modelers" and this was a pretty big step up from our basement ovals. We got the community involved, and pretty soon we were way past the line of turning back. The layout was constructed with a few goals in mind. We wanted to grab the attention of the very young children at the same time allowing the older generation to remember back to their own train layout when they were younger. We did not build the layout to model any era or any location, (and yes, we are aware that the PY&A never had any bridges with their name on it). There is a mix of O Scale, S Scale, HO Scale, and just about everything in between. You will see Plasticville, Lionel, MTH, ceramic buildings, and Ameritowne Structures. And we needed a lot of trains running. Needless to say, this isn't a display for the rivet counters out there. It turned out to be over 200 square feet when we decided, "Yup, that's big enough". Thursday is our opening night.

I gotta say, I was pleased with the AmeriTowne structures.
