I'm looking for a computer program that I can use to design, lay out full size. and possibly colorize buildings. I want to be able to take the finished product and laminate or glue it to foam core and make my own structures.
I needs to be very simple to use (because I'm a dinosaur when it comes to computers) and it needs to be relatively inexpensive, and it needs to run on my Apple iMac system.

I've never used it, but you might take a look at SketchUp. I believe the free version might be good enough for what you need and it's generally recommended whenever this topic comes up. If you do a Google search for "model building design software for mac", there are others that might work too and most have a trial version. HTH
Really, any graphics program would do this, like The GIMP or GraphicConverter (I use both, but not for creating buildings.). They both have rulers which is all you really need. As for a program that has a supply of patterns already, I'm not sure there is such a thing.
I can do patterns in my head but I'm not a draftsman. Thanks, folks. I'll take a look.
SketchUp has patterns to select from, but I don't know if it allows freehand.
