Today's project was a concrete viaduct bridge. I think I'll add some railings before I install it tomorrow.

Dave after you cut out your foam and before you paint it do you cover it with plaster/mud and sand it to get rid of any imperfections? Choo Choo Kenny
Ken,
I do not try to fix the imperfections. I do sand it pretty well. The first coat is heavy body acrylic, then an I/A wash then airbrush. There is a seam in the middle of the smaller arches but the bridge is going on the back side of the layout. I might have tried to fill that if this piece was slated for close-view.

Dave outstanding. Did you cut out the holes with Hot wire cutter or Blades?
Steve
Nice bridge. I also don't smooth and sand out all imperfections - not necessary, at least with many.
I've had good results using spackling paste to cover up and smooth out imperfects and rough foam surfaces. I like the stuff that goes on pink and dries white - easy to know when you can sand and paint. Cheap and easy to use.
I'm more likely to ADD imperfections than remove them. But, if you want a nice smooth surface, drywall compound works well.
nice Dave
Looks real good Dave!!!
FYI, John Sethian wrote an article in OGR run 245 about making foam viaducts. That is where I got the inspiration to build this one. He used hot wire to cut his. I used a hole saw and band saw.

The viaduct looks great! Thank you for the noted on finishing.
Nicely done!
Thanks for sharing.
Man you do some nice work! Now, which O gauge figures are you going to scarf up for this project?
