Guys. I am obtaining all the wiring and motors from a donor for a 5 volt system. Will the can motors work in the trucks of this ps1? It's from 1996. I wanted to use that ps2/3 board with 5 volt connectors. Anybody know about switching can motors over ? Is the worm gears on the can motors the same?

You'll have to give specific model numbers before anyone can tell you what will work with any degree of certainty. Personally, I wouldn't do anything that involved installing a 5-volt system in a PS1. The 5-volt systems are failing, having reached their end-of-life stage.
RJR, I agree with you about the 5 volt system but he said his only using the wiring and connectors from the 5V system not the boards.
I think there is a good chance what you are trying to do will work but I am not 100% sure. Many of the MTH diesel motors are interchangeable but I would bet not all of them. Without knowing what model the donor motors came from it is hard to say for sure. Good luck with your project.
Phil, I'm not really sure what he meant. He also didn't say what board he'll be using.
I agree with your observation on the motors. Unless they've failed, there's really no reason to replace the PS1 motors.
I'd just use the PS/1 motors. You can get the tach reader holder for the tach reader, that's probably a lot easier than trying to swap motors unless they're an exact match.
I thought just gutting out the ps1 and replacing with the motors. Tach reader is attached. I want to use one of the ps2/3 boards with 5 volt connectors.

John. Can I get a ps2/3 board with 5 volt connectors? Can you get diesel specific? Can I do that install or do you guys have to program it in? Thanks

Ok. I'll try fitting them in. I'm just using 5 volt wiring. I want a ps2/3 board with 5 volt connectors
You can load any 3V sound file into the PS32 board, lots of choices. Without seeing the motors for both units, it's impossible for me to say if the replacements would work. The major sticking point is the worm gear, sometimes there are subtle differences that bite you if you try to substitute. Whenever I can, I keep the original motor. The tach reader holder is cheap, get that with the PS32 board.
Well. The setup I was bidding on got away. So I will just get a ps3 diesel kit. Oh well!
