Will the distance between tracks be the same on a 90 as a 45 with 2 hooked together? I have 2 90s but only 1 45 so I can't check.

Thanks John, smart idea.
I only have one of each crossing, but a quick measuring of the two different types shows that YES, the track centers will be the same with two 45's or two 90's connected together (approx. 8-3/8" in either case).

Thanks Paul.
When stuff gets tight just break out a hacksaw with a new 32 tooth blade. As long as the rails line up in gauge, the right of way retains longitudinal alignment and the rail heads share the exact same plane, all is good. Bonding jumpers as required.
That is unless you really want 8 3/8" centerlines.

Thanks Tommy, I will likely cut them as they will be crossing a 54 and 42 oval.
Rough drawing. Cross over mania. It'll make a lot more sense once I start throwing down track. Still waiting on sound deadening material and I'm short 1 054 solid rail. and a 45.

The original Tinplate Trackers standards were based on Lionel tubular track components and specified 8.5" between tracks. O-31 switches mated for a crossing track and crossovers fit the 8.5" distance.
RR-Track shows 8.32" as the center to center distance for MTH RealTrax.

I will cut them to bring the tracks closer.

Thank You Dave your a credit to the hobby and the OGR Forum.
Atlas track system (Click on underlined, to access a slideshow, in a photobucket file). The Atlas system was designed on 9" increment track center diameters. O27, O36, O45, O54, O63, O72 .... Etc. Space between track (centers) 4.5" These are O54 switches installed as a cross over. You can fabricate short, or custom, pieces as needed.
I used the two different angle cross pieces, picture center, the combination required a slight correction, under the wood road crossing.
