Looking for some help in connecting the latest release (2011?) of Lionel's Culvert loader to a Lionel SC-2 accessory controller.

The manual doesn't cover it.

The loader has 4 binding posts - 2 are for power (this also provides constant power for the interior lighting) and the other 2 are for the on/off switch of the action.  This second pair of posts requires no tap from the transformer - You simply take two wires from the these posts directly to the on/off switch.

I assumed that a set of inputs (ground and on/off) C-2 would simply replace the provided on/off switch but that doesn't seem to be working.

Any ideas are appreciated.

The only fly in the ointment I can see is the first SC-2 channel has a ground that's connected to the supply ground, I normally cut this as soon as I take them out of the box.  After that, all the SC-2 consists of is six TMCC controlled SPDT relays with a 15 amp capacity.

If you're not using channel 1, the NO and common leads will provide a switch.  Of course, you have to program the SC-2 channel for toggle mode.  Page 20 & 21 of the SC-2 manual tells you how to program and use accessories.  The right hand two posts of each channel is the toggle, the left hand two will be the momentary function.

You will need power on the right hand two terminals of the loader to power it when the switch closes.

John,

I was hoping that you'd field this one!

I basically have the first two terminals of the culv. loader connected to my accessory buss wire and ground buss wire under the layout. This provides constant power to the light and power (though not active) to the motor.

The second terminals are for the switch and they are just a circuit to be completed with a basic on / off switch. No power needed here. Thus, I would assume that they're connected internally, in some fashion, to the first two culvert posts.

I was assuming that these to posts could be connected to the common and "on/off" toggle of accessory #4 on the SC-2.

I realize that I'm probably repeating myself but just trying to paint an accurate picture.
