Custom designed 60 foot general purpose 8-axle heavy duty flatcar

I have designed a custom 8-axle 60 foot heavy duty flatcar that uses a total of 4 roller bearing style trucks. Each of the 4 trucks is specially mounted with independent rotation so that the car can easily negotiate tight curves. Model photos shown.

The special assembly is called a "span bolster". All 8-axle cars use the same arrangement, even the Lionel 16-wheeler from the postwar era.

I'm mulling over a redesign of these for the WECX 801 Schnabel plans. The wood version seems a little chunky, so I'm looking up additional plans to actually build the car from sheet styrene.

There was someone on the MyLargeScale forums who actually 3D-printed a 1:32 scale WECX 801. I should ask to see his diagrams

This "span bolster" is a special design made in 2 parts not one which allows each truck to pivot.

Here are a few photos of my O scale WECX 801 Schnabel. It is over 6 feet long with load.
