I found this custom painted Polar Express Lionel Rico Station on e-bay and made an offer on it, and am glad I did. This is a Christmas present to my granddaughter, and maybe to myself in a way

It's always risky buying something custom made on the internet, yet after inspecting Lionel's rather lackluster = generic-looking PE station in-person at my local train shop, I became determined to either build/paint something myself or find one ready-made. By the way, I have no affiliation with the seller, I simply found his stations while surfing O-scale on e-bay. The seller and creator has talent, as shown in this station and some of his other custom painted stations. He customizes the lighting via LEDs and a plug-in wall adaptor. The station arrived well-packed, packed with care, which is necessary as this is a model that was assembled and painted from Lionel's kit.
I've come to believe that the hobby of O-gauge, likely true of any scale, is made better by a community of artists and mechanics who share their wares for a fair price.
