Customizing the Interlocking Tower included in the Walthers 933-2703 Structure Set
This "built-up" trackside structure set was produced by Walthers, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The main structure is a lighted Interlocking Tower.
A photo of a similar prototype interlocking tower is shown. Also shown are photos of the interior of various prototype towers.
The roof on the Walthers Interlocking Tower is removable as shown. The interior of the tower is nicely detailed and includes a Track Board and simulated "control levers". The set includes various paper signs that can be cut out and cemented to the tower structure.
The lamp installed in the tower can be operated by an AC or DC voltage up to a maximum of 14 volts. My preference is to use regulated 12 volt DC power that can be adjusted (for dimming purposes) as necessary. The adjustable control module is shown. Although the first floor (ground level) is not lighted it is also possible to add one or more LEDs mounted through the base of the tower.
The addition of various chairs and a desk to the second floor is also possible.
