Steve, how about bolting a motor in that CV and running it as-is?
Dennis, did you or are you going to restore that 260E? I would like to see the "after" picture!
I have a bit of a soft spot for old, rusty locomotives. While it isn't exactly tinplate, this is a live steam loco I bought... it was in a basement near a river for many years and has literally been under the flood waters more than once:
Just after Ken gave it too me, I went to the motor drawer and got the motor from that CV shell I sent you. It looks like it could have come out of this one. Now to get that motor working without making it look too good.
