Well, it only took me a few years to get around to this area of the layout, but I've spent the last few days installing these side tracks, operating track and operating accessory.  Most of this stuff was purchased at shows from years past.  I wish I took a before picture of the freight warehouse.  I'm really happy with the weathering and changes I made.

The brick wall was from a huge roll of Dept 56 floor I bought on clearance for $10.  My dirt and rock are from the back yard.  Most of the greenery is sawdust with the exception of some 2mm static grass that I could not get to stand up.  My thistle weeds are paint brush bristles hit with super glue and dipped and rolled into the static grass.

I need to get some more people figures to really bring this to life.  All comments and thoughts on how I can make this better are welcome.

Thanks, Ron

Great scene Ron,   I think you nailed it.... Possibly some subtle weathering to tone down the top of the loading platform with some powders, or pastels.  Could be the light reflecting off of it in the photo, the rest of the weathering in the scene is really well done.  Also, I really  like your idea for the thistle weeds !

Thanks for the encouragement fella's.

Tom... I added some milk and ice.  It's all I have for now.  I will have to get some more when I go to Allentown Spring Thaw.

Chris A... You are right, I did not touch the platform.  This evening I went over it lightly with my weathering mixture (Grey latex and Brown water color paint mixed together).  I brush it on, wait 30 seconds and wipe it off lightly.

Then your comment about chalk reminded me that many many years ago when I first got started, I purchased some weathering powder from a Hobby shop in San Diego while I was on travel there.  So I opened that up and brushed some on.  Do you think it needs more?

Ron

Every building needs a trash can. Maybe an messed up old milk can on it's side, next to it.

If it's hot out folks/kids might be hanging about ready to catch a cool breeze out the doors or congregating at a flaw in an iced building.  "I was there". Stick me under the wood deck, cool steam rolling down onto us through the timber gaps

A smoke unit and sliced gaps under the doors?
