Dallee vs. Railsounds

Well, the new ERR RailSounds Commander boards have considerably better sound quality than RailSounds 4, but I don't know what the Dallee sounds like to give a comparison.

dallee boards are not loud enough.  by the elrr company chip it is alot better.

Can I place err commander in conventional trains and achieve realistic sound using TMCC? I assume they are to installed in box car or tender? 

You can install the RailSounds Commander in a tender or boxcar, they're pretty compact.  For steamers you need a chuff switch, which is typically a reed switch and a magnet on a wheel.  For diesels, you normally tie into the motor to achieve the motor ramp-up and down.

So, the answer is yes, they work fine in conventional mode.

You can install in almost anything as long as it has power. You will have to add a chuff switch for chuff sounds. Diesels don't require a motor connection any longer. This set up works great for installations in Dummy engines. If using tmcc you will have to run a wire for serial or use the RCDR for control.

RDCR? Does the power come from track power or battery?

Bill, is the new RSC using the track voltage in conventional to control prime mover sounds?  I have yet to run one in conventional mode without a serial connection.

The RCDR would be powered from track voltage.  The only thing the battery is used for is to keep sound continuity for track power interruptions.

Yes, the revs ramp up and down according to voltage.
