When I was living in Texas I would set up a carpet railroad in the house a few times a year due to not planning to live in Texas not over 5 years til retirement. One day I had a derailment on the railroad. When I took up the track the wife noticed that I got her WHITE CARPET dirty with oil from the engine.

SHE WAS VERY, VERY, VERY MAD at me. I had to clean the carpet and did not set up anymore carpet railroads for a year. When we moved to Arkansas she said that my trains where ban for her house and NEW CARPET.

SO she made me build this so to keep her carpets clean:

SO PLEASE do not get the wife's carpet dirty you may end up like me.

P.S. I showed her, I build my new carpet central railroad 4 foot off of the floor and installed brown carpet in the room.

If it were me I would get that microwave and coffee pot in a hurry then contact the Post Office and file a change of adrees card! Maybe you should take some dirt in from the backyard and tell her you need to use the microwave to dry it out and kill the bugs! Bet you would have that microwave in no time........

Casey LV, I do have a small Refrigerator, Cable TV, small Bed, DVD player with Railroad DVD's and a full bathroom. I still need an microwave oven and coffee pot. I do let the wife store her Christmas boxes under the layout.

Keith: you don't understand, The cot was for me.

I almost got kicked out of the basement for taking too much of it.  I threatened to build my  own train barn.  That was the end of the discussion, I got to keep my claimed portion of the basement.  She knew I would build it and "move out of the house".  Darn!!!

Looks like a great space and it's your own!

Dan
