Hi - I have 2 DCDRSs. One that came with the unit (a legacy lionel r30 subway) and a replacement that I bought from Lionel hoping to fix a no run condition. The loco has lights, but no sound or movement in either legacy or conventional mode. The only way I can get the motors is if i apply current directly to the blue and yellow wires that go to the motors, although continuity checks out between the pickups and ground and the six prong plug that goes into the dcdRs, which on mine are black and grey for ground and pickup current. At this point, I've exhausted my limited electrical troubleshooting skills . Is there a way to do some basic tests the on the dcdRs's without special equipment? nothing looks burned out on either - the 3 caps look sound visually anyway. Its hard to believe that the brand new DCDRS replacement is also no good, and common sense would say that the problem would have to be somewhere else. Then again I cant understand why I should get movement if power is getting to the board? Unless, perhaps a short or something burned them both out.. or maybe I'm overlooking something very simple?

Thanks, I'll try putting the R4LC in tonight and check the wiring one more time, in case there is something i missed.

The DCDRS requires serial data to operate, check the R4LC and the wiring in the product.  If you don't see anything obvious with the R4LC and wiring, email me off forum and I will take a deeper look at the wiring diagrams.
