Kadee has an electric coupler for G Scale locomotives and cars. Has anyone attempted to do this with an "O Scale" command control locomotive (TMCC OR DCS)?
I like the look and operation of Kadees, but am unwilling to give up the remote couplers on locomotives. (I am aware of Kadee's delayed action). Delayed action IS NOT "Remote Control".
Small servo to open the knuckle perhaps???

This has been talked about before on the forum, MTH tried but couldn't get the support from us.
I always thought I would like that, however it turns out when spotting cars or switching the yard half the time I'm uncoupling from rolling stock. The Kadee magnet in the track works good.
I know of two locals, long absent from the forum that modified Kadees for remote control. One 3RS scale guy used Lionel coils located in the car and connected to the coupler by music wire.
Another On3 guy wound his own coils and used DCC to control them. Both very tedious to build but both worked well.

I'd love to see this happen, but I'm not holding my breath. Atlas actually had some scale electrocouplers, I still have a pair from a dead locomotive that finally got scrapped. They would be neat, don't know what ever happened to these.
I prefer realistic looking models vs remote control couplers. The magnets work just fine and are much more realistic for operations. Electronics are finiky enough without having to deal with couplers too.

I' m going to look for them and see how Atlas did it.
