DCS Loader Default Serial Port

Not to change the subject, last week I tried to install 6.1 on my TIU that already had 6.0 installed.

I tried 2 different computers windows 10 and windows 7.

Both times the TIU found port 6 successfully but still couldn't install the update. I tried many times but finally gave up

I ended up at Eastside trains in Kirkland WA and it installed with no problem.

Why would this occur when I did earlier updates with no

problem in the past?

Barry, that only works once. Then when I load the next TIU, i need to select the Com Port again. It takes the DCS Loader program a while to scan all of the virtual com ports that have been created by different Bluetooth and USB devices attached at one time or another. It would be nice if the loader would be able to save that communication configuration or if the was a way to set a default Com Port.

My recollection is that, as long as the Options tab isn’t accessed again, the Loader Program remembers the TIU’s COM port.

Unforunately, I’m traveling and cannot confirm what I stated.

If my recollection is correct, it remembers what I set until I actually close the program.  Next time I open it, it's pot luck.  Also, I use a USB>serial adapter cable, and port #s change when I insert the cable into a different USB slot on the computer.

RJR & Barry, You are correct, it keeps the setting as long as I don't close the program. The Auto finding feature is completely random, it takes forever before it reaches COM 1 on my laptop.

I just wanted to add that my DCS loader 5.0 always finds the TIU on port 6 no matter where its plugged in on either of my computers, but still has difficulty, and won't load the 6.1 update.

That's why I took it my dealer to get it done, strange.
