This was posted and discussed a while back. I was working on my system because it dropped another engine out of address #2. It's an Atlas engine that was converted and doesn't run much. I've lost four engines at least now over time, on two different layouts. The only common thing seems to be that they all were not used for at least a month or two?

Also, as I was adding the engine back into the remote, I couldn't help but smell how bad the Rev L was putting out. I read about some failures and mine is working good. It just still stinks bad. I'm thinking that some component maybe being over driven or near failure??

I made the mistake of trying to simply add the engine back on the track with all the others still powered up. The remote found a name as B&M Pacific (already in there) and added it to the remote. When I pressed start, my PS3 Dash 8 CSX (also in there) started up? So I had to do some moving and re-adding and then of course rebuilding consists. So I wouldn't add anything, if it's not on a test track without everything else off.

Now before everyone chimes in, I have good signal strength all over and everything works. It just must be added with that test track rule in mind.

I believe the remote has a bad thumbwheel that acts up once in a while. I bought a new one and I'm waiting until it fails. Wondering if that has anything to do with the remote dropping engines? Seems to be a regular thing now. One every couple months. I will buy a second remote in attempt to trouble shoot this dropping issue.

Hi Joe, Do you mean disappeared from the remote? Can't say that's happened here, maybe once or  twice over the last 10 or so years.

As  you know I 'm a big believer in using a programming track or equivalent.

We do have a spare tiu that we  will eventually use for programming . the remote will be tethered so it can only talk to that tiu. The rest of the layout can remain powered.

Now Joe, you have to come up for a visit, you're  less than 2 hours away.

That's a great offer Gregg. I appreciate the help too. I slipped as I always try to use a test track to add since it was posted here (you?).

and yeap, they keep disappearing! Fourth time now at least. The first time I wasn't sure what had happened. This time was easy as that loco has been in address 2 since it's upgrade. Was going to make a video of how good an Atlas runs and it was gone!

 So where's two hours north???
