I have a new DCS remote 50-1002 - it is the version with the larger graduations/serrations on the thumbwheel - as compared to my older DCS remote that came with my DCS about 15 years ago that had the finer serrations on thumbwheel.

I find that the thumbwheel on the new remote is harder to control speeds, up and down, as it tends to skip or not register speed steps despite thumbing the thumbwheel forward or backward. I never had this issue with the older DCS remote with finer serrations. Is there something wrong with it or do these new remotes take time to break-in? Or, do the new remotes need some pressure applied in addition to "thumbing" the thumbwheel?

Interesting, I always thought the larger ones were the older ones? My DCS was purchased in 2012, I think, and I also have a couple of replacement thumb wheels from 2013-2014 or so (one is now in my remote). They are all the small ones like my remote had originally. Anyway, I know these remotes & thumb wheels existed long before that time period, was just a bit surprised to hear the newer ones were the larger ones? I learn something new every day around here!

While on the general subject of remotes:  I have one of the original issues.  The backlight only illuminates the screen from the bottom. Anyone know if this was characteristic of the original issues, or just a malfunction [which I shan't bother to fix].  Incidentally, this has the original thumbwheel.
