Just got a call today from my dealer and he told me that he got in his shipment of the DCS Remote Controllers and that he will ship them out to me on Monday. Just thought that I would mention that for people who are waiting for their order.

I received the one I had ordered from Charles Ro today.

Got one yesterday. Something I noticed is that the thumbwheel seems different from my other 3 I have had for a long time. Hard to explain but here goes............Seems like the thumbwheel needs a little more pressure to activate the feature you are trying to activate. Also it seems "spongy" when it bottoms out. I also noticed that the width of the thumbwheel does not fill the intended slot in the black plastic opening designated for the thumbwheel. Not saying this is a problem but it is just differnt. I have not tried it yet on the layout. One thing that concerns me is that I am wondering if the thumbwheel is a cheaper version in the new handheld than in previous runs. So is it likely to break easier?
This is probably bad news for the "gougers" on Ebay

Thank you so much for this post! As soon as I saw this I ordered one from Nicholas Smith Trains and it’ll be here tomorrow. Btw I was going crazy looking for this post so I could thank you. I thought I saw this on Facebook 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️Anyway thanks again.
glad to help you out. I am also on 10 different Facebook train groups
did MTH make more than two versions (releases) of the DCS hand held Remote Controls....50-1002 & 50-1038 ? Someone told me that there were more than those two that I mentioned above. Was the MTH #50-1002 DCS Remote Control the first one that they made ? If came out in 2000. I want to get this topic settled because I am told that I am wrong...that there was more than the #50-1002 & #50-1038. Looking for some help from people who may know.
The very first dcs remotes had a smoother grip on the thumb wheel. That was replaced with a more rigid grip. And finally the remote had a redesign due to parts obsolescence which is the latest version.
other than the thumb wheel, they pretty much are the same...right ?
Yep, the thumb wheel is the only change in the 50-1002.
thank you for your help
