Model car shows are rare. Although I've not been to the Chicago show, this show is considered THE show in the US. In Europe, where 1:43 is the most popular scale, there are more shows, as well as dealers that sell them.

Every August, a HUGE old car weekend is held in Macungie, PA (near Allentown). There are dealers selling "common" 1:43 models, as well as dealers, in the Middle School that sell hand-built models as well as detailed Brooklins. These average about $200. each...so, serious collectors only (there must be a lot of us since finding a parking spot is a nightmare).  www.awkscht.com

"This show" is the Chicago show, or the Macungie show?  I used to make the Dunkirk

show, but the flea market kind of dried up, and I have never made it to Macungie,

although I've long heard of it as a car show.  Did not know it was also a model show.

Brooklins now are shown on the net for $125, although discount sources exist...I

am still lamenting the expiration of Rextoy, at about $30 a piece.  Brooklin appears

to be making some of the models Rextoy catalogued (a Buick and a Lincoln) but

never produced.  Would still like to know if the Chicago show is an annual thing and

when?

The big show for diecast and plastic models in the Chicago area is held at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton; the schedule is here:http://www.pthinc.com/content....egion=UpcomingEvents. The next show is on February 24. I have attended this show several times, and it is heaven for diecast collectors. It is sponsored by PastTime Hobbies in Brookfield, which is one of the biggest diecast stores in the Midwest.
