Folks,

Some of you may remember Kim Smith aka "Chessie Man" a frequent OGR forum poster. If you followed Kim's posts you know that he passed away about 2 years ago. He had a very large collection of new in box Atlas, Lionel, MTH, 3rd rail, Golden Gate, etc. trains as well as a collection of diecast vehicles.

I assisted Kim's widow in selling all of the trains which were purchased primarily by Beth Marshall of the Public Delivery Track and Jeff Dobslaw of JD's trains.

The diecast vehicles still remain and I am looking for advice on possible auction houses to dispose of this collection located in northern VA. Ms Smith does not want to do individual or ebay sales. I have contacted a well known auction house run by a TCA member and never received the courtesy of a return call or e-mail after numerous attempts to reach them.

Do any of you have suggestions for auction houses that would deal with this collection of new in box pieces of mostly 1/43 vehicles including First Gear, PEM, and  numerous others? There are approximately 550 total pieces including cars, construction equipment, 18 wheelers, etc.

Thank you in advance.

Just as a suggestion, there seems to always be a good demand for die cast vehicles by Forum members. I bet if you put them in lots of twenty on the Sell Board, you would get a better price and move them quickly.

I don't need 550, but I could sure use 20-30, if that is any gauge of potential interest.

Joe,

I know plenty of ebay sellers but no one who does diecast vehicles or wants to do it. Any recommendations?

BK - I will send you an e-mail.

Thanks to all of you who have replied. The auction house that has been unresponsive so far has been mentioned in one of the posts. Surprising to me considering I am on their mailing list and have made a number of purchases at 2 rail auctions there over the years.
