Sent my ps3 r-33 motorized subway car to MTH for warranty service two days before Christmas.

Received it back from LHS almost three full months later on 3/31, didn’t inspect unit at LHS because guy behind counter was eating a late lunch and it was closing time.

Opened unit Easter Sunday to show off to family and....  electrocoupler mount that wasn’t broken when I sent the unit in hanging by the wires with one screw and no spring in bag.

The only thing that makes it worse is that all the broken bits weren’t in the shipping bag, which tells me it was sent back to me broken and without being inspected by MTH or my LHS.

the only thing that makes me feel like a bigger loser/idiot/sucker was the release of smart phone app. about a month after I purchased TIU and MTH remote brand new from same LHS.

While I understand the frustration about the repair, a TIU is needed to use the app. The remote is always a good backup as well if you use the app.  I don't see any reason to be upset about that.

What packing was provided to your LHS when you first sent train it?  Was it with original packaging, or did LHS package it?  MTH Warranty repair guys would not have let that go, but if it was marginally packaged them may not have changed packaging.  Certainly your LHS should have inspected that when received.

You would be surprised how much repackaging I have to do when I get repairs sent to me.  Train is butt end to butt end in small box.  Regardless of foam and bubble wrap when the shipper moves and drops it, couplers are the first to break, followed by cow catchers, detail work, bells, etc....

Let alone all the foam chips I need to remove from the drive train.

Trains should be shipped in original boxes, with the wrapping paper they came in used.  If not available you need at least 4 inches of clearance all around engine which is firmly wrapped and supported in the box so that it can not move.  G
