In my little city I decided to install Woodland Scenic street lights. I am curious about distance btw lights? I’m using the arched cast iron. Picture is of my street, but roadway not completed.

Yes my plan includes proper lighting in that corner building. It comes and goes. I will also change out all the goosenecks. Good point about blocking store fronts.
The street scape includes an intersection and two roads, one 7’, the other is closer to 15’.
nothing to do with O scale compressed scenery, but i remember my drivers ed. teacher telling us to use our blinker 100' before a turn and a good way to tell 100' is because utility poles are typically spaced about 100' apart.
there are also the engineering principles that would deal with the light brightness, angle of dispersion and height above the ground while also dealing with a slew of city and state regulations, but in your case i believe you will be fine in following the, "looks good to me" theory of placement.

Space them 6-10" apart, having poles spaced closer together helps make the scene look bigger than it is.
If your modeling my neck of the woods, you only need one. And leave it off....it doesn’t work........
