Do Atlas switches play nice with PW Lionel collector shoes?

A neighbor inherited a substantial LIONEL PW collection and asked me for a track recommendation.  I'd suggest Atlas but I'm unsure of whether their switches are compatible with PW Lionel collector shoes that are used to activate couplers and numerous operating cars. (I'm familiar with Ross and Gargraves switches.)

Atlas users--what's your experience been with LIONEL collector shoes?

I run some post war stuff through my Atlas switches, I did have some issues with the collector shoes until I added for a lack of better term the Atlas switch shoes. See pictures, it is the plastic elongated diamond shape in the center of the switch track.
