Does this motor sound normal? New Video, no track noise.

All I hear is the tenders wheels.  Have you lubed the axles?

I lubed the axles, drive rods, pickup rollers and the motor shaft.  You can really hear it best near the end of the video when I accelerate.  I'll do another video on a test best without track and see if that makes a difference.

I don't think that is possible, because the locomotive is elevated and stationary in that video.

It does not sound normal to me. it sounds like binding in the gear train or something in the motor itself is not right. I would remove the motor from the chassis and apply power to see if the noise is in the motor. Don't disconnect the motor electrically or you will have to use a DC supply to power it. If is is quiet, then I would starting looking at the drive train for lubrication issues or a gear alignment issue. There could also be some other component that is loose and making contact with a gear. Just my take without actually having it in hand.

What about squirting some(red n tacky) grease in the gearbox? It sounds like gear noise to me. 

It appears you have the Loco suspended in mid air. Between no weight on the drivers , and running it at lightning speed I don't know that the gear noise is detrimental.

See if the grease helps.

Hopefully this Loco was greased previously along the way seeing as its 18 years old.

The motor spins nicely when separated from the gears.  There was grease in there, but I added more.
