I picked up a fair green Dorfan 157 clockwork. The Greenberg book says it has a reversing motor with a brake. Mine has a brake but no reverse. Anyone know if it came with or without? Motor in it works, but all the drivers are bad Gotta find some good drivers somewhere or find something that will at leat work.

Probably came both ways. Dorfan was really just selling stuff off after 1930 so all kinds of oddities made it out the door. The Trickel drivers should be fine for clockwork. I believe he had some nickel plated like the originals. I have one here with repro drivers so I know someone made them. Keep it somewhere that the temperature is fairly constant. It seems to keep them from shedding metal flakes!

Trickel has no pictures in the catalog of the Dorfan parts. I'm guessing the ungeared DO11SD steamer driver may work. I'll have to call him. I have a basket case reversing motor on the way that looks like it has good drivers so that will be my fallback.

My dome & stack are fatigued, but still intact, I'll probably order those also to have in the drawer if I decide to change them out.

Dorfan had 3 windup motors.  the least expensive had a spring motor without a brake, the next one had a lever on the cab that kept the wheels from turning while it was wound, the top of the line motors where reversible using a gear shift lever and were thought to be imported from Germany and made by Kraus.  I have the name of the person that restored some of my Dorfan and he probably can tell you who to contact for parts. Email me if you would like his name and number.  hhtrains@rochester.rr.com, Al
