Question:

If I were to use 2 strands of 24 gauge wire for each lead of an accessory hook up (2 strands to the + and 2 strands to the - terminals from the power source)would I have enough wire to safely power the accessory such a Semaphore signal or something more robust such as a barrel loader? The 24 gauge seems mighty small but I think it may be adequate. Not sure if doubling up would prevent it from heating up as I suspaect might happen for a single strand. The wire is solid copper.

If this is acceptable what gauge is this approximately equal to for a single wire?

I came across a roll of 8 wire 24 AWG cable. All 8 wires are uniquely colored to easily identify.

Thanks in advance

Sam

Thank you gentleman. That is good to know. I think I am set for life for accessory wiring as I have a big box with a full roll!

I have a slick one squeeze style wire stripper that unfortunately will not go down to that small a diameter.

Can anyone recommend one that can handle this size?
