DPDT TOGGLES | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Morning,

I have a bunch of DPDT toggle switches leftover from my HO days. I used them for my tortoise turnouts on my layout. They are already wired Crisscross to the contacts. I am curious if they can be used for the Lionel 022 turnouts in this format? I plan on using the constant voltage connection to all of my turnouts on this layout I am building. I haven't found a diagram that shows this set up using DPDT's. I am better with visuals than long word descriptions on wiring.

Lionel 022's function like HO twin coil switch machines. As such, they need momentary contact, not constant contact like Tortoises.

SPDT (on)-off-(on) momentary switches like these can be used for the 022 and most other traditional Lionel switches.

Rob has it exactly right. You need a momentary switch.

I am going to just buy the lionel switch controls. It will take longer but at least I know they are the right ones.
