Awhile ago, when taking an HO layout down I picked up a lot of large extremely well done professional rock wall chunks anywhere from 12" squareish to larger, and 2" to 2 1/2" thick. The back is not flat, but has an undulating surface. These were not carved from foam panels. They were probably made 20 years or more ago.
Looks like ISO foam was shot into highly detailed large rock molds similar to the type of surface you would see in a quarry wall. Plus some pieces similar to limestone out cropping. The pieces are about two to two and a half inch thick on the average. I have only seem what may be two places where there may a pattern repeat.
Some of the pieces were made into outside corners. Nice stuff.
These are not made from the palm sized rock molds available from many sources today.
Someone had painted these a difficult color so they need a re-do.
Two additional pieces will be used for lift out access ports in a large fixed mountain.
I am presently embedding them with spray foam into a tall embankment over lath and filling the seams with Structo-lite later today. They all have random edges which mandates fudging.
Bottom line is that I would like to find more of this product. They are just real nice. Anyone aware of who made them?
