Is there a simple way that does not involve a relay to hook up a signal to a DZ-1000 so that the turnout direction is indicated. Really all I would like is for a light to be lit if the turnout is thrown in the wrong direction. That light can be off if the turnout is properly aligned. It seem this can be done with a DZ-1008 relay, I was wondering if there was a way to accomplish the same thing without the relay.

The bulbs and run the other ends to the bulbs on your semaphore.
I'd buy the relay.
Is there a simple way that does not involve a relay...
Depends what you mean by simple. It appears the DZ-1008 has 10 Amp contacts which seems more adequate to handle a light! Posed as an electrical circuit problem I'd think the relay functionality could be performed for, say, $2 in parts and be much smaller if space is an issue. But simple is in the eye's of the beholder - soldering, wiring, working with small components, etc..

Don't the leds on the DZ 1000 switch machine lit up?
Gregg, the leds do light up but I was wondering if I could place a block signal on one of the routes that would be RED if the route was in the undesired direction. It appears the connection between the button that activates the switch machine is momentary, no combination of linking wires gets me anything other than a momentary response when the switch is thrown. Anyway, thanks for the comments, I have other projects to take up my time, this one goes in the discard pile.
Non derailing feature works only when activated. I thought that would be the answer but alas it was not. What I am using is an old plasticville block signal that has a bulb added to it. What I wanted to happen was to have it light if and only if the turnout was set that the train would derail if it passed through. Yes the non derail feature will work to filp the turnout but for some reason I cannot get anything to light other that momentarily. Anyway, not all that important. I can use these with an amber aspect to let me know if I actually turned on power to a block instead (something if frequently forget to do)
It's a pretty easy fix... Add a 1 K 1/4 watt resistor on each lead to keep the leds lit.
