sooo-I'v just received some dz-1008 and the 1st instruction reads "remove wires from dz-1000"! Ahhhh-many of my DZ-1000s wires are soldered in---did I say Soldered!!---and no screws to tighten---whats ---a man to do?---

The DZ1008 instructions has interface instructions for older and newer DZ1000. The older DZ1000 has screw terminals. The newer DZ1000 eliminated the screw terminals and substituted wires. Sounds like you have the newer DZ1000. Just connect the DZ1008 to your existing DZ1000 wiring has shown in the instruction sheet diagram.
