DZ-2001a data line driver

I am setting up a DCS system with a data cable connected to a Lionel Legacy base so I can run both DCS and TMCC engines. I want to control my DZ-2500 switch machines via my AIU. I will be using a separate transformer to power the switch motors to maintain signal quality. I also obtained a DZ-2001a data line driver to isolate the data line from the command base and allow the use of multiple switch motors. Do I plug this into the Lionel command base and then plug the DCS cable into the DZ-2001a. Should I not use the DZ-2001a with my DCS
