I have a pair of these signals that aren't working properly. One shows bright red and dim green all the time. The other shows bright red and a flashing green at about 1 second intervals. Any ideas on what to do to fix them? Besides sending them back to Z Stuff?

Trainman you have to use this for your signals to work right. http://www.z-stuff.net/dz1075.html
Chessie; The DZ1011 is an IR operated signal. Its just not working properly.
Sorry trainman my fault and how are you hooking them up. Make sure you read the directions well seems confusing a little to me when i read it online. It mentioned if you run other acc. to use a relay.
I would give Zstuff a call, I have heard they can be very helpful in solving problems with their products.
I had a signal bridge with a bad board and they refused to sell me the parts. I reached out because of all the great things I have heard. I was told they do not want people working on the boards. I was very polite in my response. I choose not to deal with a company that treats people like they did. The board had a bad cap and I informed them of this. The top of the cap was blown out. I was informed they will make that call. I obtained the cap from my supply store, fixed the board and gave the bridge to a friend.
The signals are very well done. I have three left on my layout. As they die, I will just get rid of them.
That doesn't sound like a very pleasant experience. I can understand your frustration there.
My layout was being upgraded with his products. Not now. Great products, not so great with the policy.
Trainman:
How do you have them wired?
What happens when you cover the sensor? Does the red light go on?
Also have you tried to adjust the sensitivity?

I have 6 with the IR sensor built in and they are plug and play with proper voltage provided. Sounds like to me you have a couple of defectives to me. May want to try on a local friends layout or local hobby shop if either are available to you first before going back to Gargraves.........

I sent them back to z-Stuff. They fixed them and sent them back in a weeks time. Nice service in my book.
