E unit swap

Dallee has 2 amp, 4 amp, and 12 amp reverse units - sound units, too

The Lionel Electronic E-units are really low end and I usually swap them out for something better. I have only tried a Williams by Bachmann electronic e-unit and it was super easy and simple to install

The electronic unit from a small Lionel will not be suitable for that GG1.  Personally, I'd put a query in the Wanted to Buy for a Williams reverse unit, they will handle that engine just fine.  I run across them regularly from upgrades.

Thanks guys!  Thought I'd inquire before I accidentally fry the unit I have on hand.  I'll probably shop around locally.  By the time the one from Marty arrived here, the cost would be double what I paid for the engine.  None the less, I sure appreciate the lead, rtr12.

I've found it convenient to install manual reversing switches on some of my 3-rail locomotives as an alternative to E-units. In most cases I use a mini-DPDT switch with the lever poking out through the slot previously used by the E-unit lockout.

You are most welcome, thought it might be something you could use? I have command only and have no idea what a good price for these things would be?
