Just sharing my thoughts with you all, or is it yawl? I am in South Carolina which is not the side of the Mason-Dixon Line I am normally accustomed to, so I am learning how to sing Southern. The real reason for this post is the extraordinarily high cost of scenery materials. Especially trees! Yikes!

So I have taken to what many others have done, and that is to look at everything around me as potential free or inexpensive layout scenery materials. The sketch has some of the round stock items I use. For example most recently I discovered that a roofing nail partially set into the bench top looks like a round patio / picnic table.

There will be more ideas to follow, and I hope this post will stimulate others to hop in with their ideas and experiences. Maybe the next sketch I post will contain the items that yawl post here.

Hi all,

I have a condo in Surfside Beach, South Carolina so I own a piece of the South. There is a railroad line running along US 501 into Myrtle Beach. Does anyone have any info about this line?

I like the word "economical" and I incorporated that suggestion into the sketch. As for Cranky Yankee, I am only when the weather down here is worse than on the northern side of the Mason Dixon Line, and right now that's almost the case.

On the bright side, the Grand Strand Model Rail Road Club has an open house today which I will attend, so that makes me a Happy Yankee! I will also be going to Hudson's Flee Market and that adds to my smile.

I wish yawl a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year!
