End of track bumpers - Do you have a favorite look / color ???

I painted it same rust color as rails. Tint is off on this photo.

I use the Lionel 260 illuminated bumpers. I retro-fit them with LEDs. The LED is connected to track power for each siding.

I also have made my own based on the Fastrack earthen bumper (less the earth). I used short 1/4" basswood pieces glued together. They are strong enough to take the occasional runaway engine hit and not break.

Being a traditional post war guy (both me and my trains) I also use, and love the look of, Lionel's red #260 bumpers.

I've used mostly Gargraves yellow truck bumpers with a few Gargraves black bumpers mixed in the layout...pretty sure Gargraves offers a red bumper also. You mention using Atlas track...I'm not sure if the connection with Gargraves will be a suitable blend with Atlas?

Those look great, what kind of / where did you buy those leds? I was looking to do something similar on my layout.

Pre war bumpers are nice come with a red light, and like many of you have the PW bumpers and a few plastic bumpers that I had broken putting them in place with the red light.

Bumpers, wheel stops.. rusty, orange, yellow. Just depends on the era, railroad, location.

Standard 5mm round top red in the 260's- they fit up in the hole from underneath.

A 3mm round top in the scratch-built wood one. I wrapped it with shrink wrap to hide the wiring.

I think I used a 1K resistor.

I like the new ones as they are more modern! I am sure I don't need the track to power them via track power as I know from past projects I can power them from a separate power source.

That being said, I think they would look great on any layout!

Mark, those new bumpers look nice.  I was wondering if those were springs behind the plate.  One can'tbeat the price of 2 for$8.

Bob, I've got some of those Lionel illuminated bumpers.  If my memory is correct there are copper "straps" not wires that bring track power to the bulbs.  How did you connect the LEDs and resistor to those straps or did you use wire?  I also have some of those that are not illuminated so I see how the LEDs would be an answer for those if I ever come up with any spurs on the layout.
