Engines/Tenders interchangable?

I own 2 MTH UP FEF's. Both are part # 20-3044-1 and both cab #844. They have 5V boards. I have a few ?s about these... 1st are the tenders and engines interchangable? If so, how does this effect DCS, if at all? Is it important or necessary to keep the engine with the tender it was with originally? (They are currently) I am considering running them double headed with DCS. Will the load into the remote under different address and be recognized separately? Just curious if there are any "beware of ..." Before i start messing around with these...

If they're both the same model, they obviously should interchange without an issue.  The tender basically has the battery and speaker.  There is an interface board in there as well, but all the "smarts" are in the locomotive.  Have at it.

 

No problem at all loading them into the remote, and they'll be assigned unique addresses when you add them to the remote.
