Hello!
An editorial in the latest “Model Railroader” by the newly-appointed editor correctly and accurately suggested that smaller scales could be tiring as the eyes, joints and personal tolerances diminish... and, that as a solution, stepping up to larger scales might prove beneficial... and, as a result, keep one’s interest in the hobby where it should be: in high-gear.
This prompted an investigation into O Gauge, O Scale or whathaveyou. (Electrically-powered Gauges II and 3 have already been played with 30 years ago when the children played with LGB indoors and out... and Gauge I isn’t called the King$’ Gauge for nothing.)
Like healthcare coverage there was little idea how complicated O scale could be; much more than 2-rail and 3-rail, or, as some would intimate: 2-rail vs 3-rail.
Amongst this august assemblage are there modelers/collectors/other who model/collect/other with European 1:45 trains?
It is fancied that the remaining HO and HOe collection of German DR Epoch III scale items and a host of Märklin tinplate collectibles could be pawned (at dismal and hopeless purchase-to-sale rates) to make way for a smaller number of O trains, still clinging to DR Epoch III due to an entangled and not interesting rationale.
Is this fanciful? (It would not be the first time.)
Thanks for your time and attention.
