Last Friday I was sitting in my hobby room just finishing up some weathering and couplers on my coal hopper consist of eighteen cars when I started having a twinge of pain in the center of my chest. I called my wife at work and ask her to come home and check my blood pressure. She came home to check it and my blood pressure was excellent not to mention I'm not over weight nor have I ever smoked and I'm only 49. But I still wasn't satisfied about this pain I had never felt so we went to the doctor up the road and she wanted to run an EKG. She did and then left the room. She returned in a moment looking very worried and then said to me your having a heart attack and I need you to stay calm and chew these aspirins while the ems is in route.

The ems arrived and rushed me 45 miles away to Ronnie Green heart center. While en route they were in constant contact with two heart surgeons and getting me prepped for the worst. I ended up with a stint and a three day stay in ICU. I got to come home just a little while ago and I'm feeling pretty good after a shower and some of the wifes cooking.

Don't take the little things for granted like these little trains. I was playing with mine one minute and thirty minutes later I had more hoses hanging out of me than a BP gas station.

I guess I just want to say I'm glad to be back with all you fellows.

Welcome back from your wake-up call.

My father and his father had their first heart attacks at about that age. So far I've managed to beat their numbers. I'm mostly vegetarian and I like to hike and bicycle substantial distances, which I think helps a lot.

Glad you're okay and your wife had the foresight to say, "let's go now," to get you to the ER.

Thanks for the reminder, that a lot of us forget.

I had a somewhat similar scare a year ago. I thought I was having a stroke.  Thankfully those near me instantly recognized something was wrong and called 911 right away.  Turned out it was Bell's Palsy, which presents itself like a stroke.

My take away, was it was a wake up call to pay attention to my doctor, and get on a healthy track, lose weight,  or I may indeed have a stroke.

Again, glad you're okay and with us to play with trains!

Wow Tom. Stints very often do the job. One thing for sure, it is good that you recognized the pain and did not ignore it. Some people have silent ischemia (interrupted cardiac oxygenation and circulation blockages)  and feel little or no pain! Now That's a problem!  Glad all went well. Stay well.

I have a  non related question for you, email me if possible.

Thanks.
