A big thank you to Joey Ricard for posting all those scenery videos.  For several years I have had a couple of packets of Field Grass floating around, but I never used the stuff because I could not  figure out how to quickly and convincingly plant them.  Well Joey points out exactly how to do that in one of his videos:

Although its best to watch the video, to summarize Joey's method:

 

  1. Take a bunch of field grass and chop it into 3/8"-ish long lengths.
  2. Roll all the chopped lengths together like a cigar. The cigar will be about 2" long
  3. Spray a line of 3M 77 where you want the weeds to go
  4. wait 15 minutes for glue to set
  5. Pull off a 3/8" long section of the "cigar." 
  6. Plant it into the 3M 77
  7. Use a dust buster to pull weeds straight. Tease if needed
  8. Sprinkle dirt/ground cover over remaining base spots between weeds
  9. Let dry
  10. Vacuum
  11. Trim as needed
