Is the Fairchild Semiconductor 1N4003 same as 1N4005 or different when used in the passenger car led circuit? This is based on Gunrunner John design for LEd lighting for passenger cars.
JEDEC-Joint Device Electron Council are industry standards and in this case a rectifier diode, 1 amp average current rating. 1N4003 is for a 200v while 1N4005 is for a 600v reverse voltage rated diode for the same DO-41 outline. 600v is better diode because of blocking voltage capability.
Thanks for the reply and the explaination. So the 1N4005 is the better diode of the two. I though there for a sceond I ordered the wrong part and had to reorder the 1N4003. Thanks you just saved me some time and money.
I work at the Fairchild Semiconductor Fab in South Portland Maine. I didn't know the answer to your question. We may not made this product at the Maine Facility. Or if we do it may have a different product code until it gets die cut from the 8" wafers. I load and unload the equipment which does the final electrical testing on the wafers before we ship them to Asia for final packaging.
