Does anyone know of a kit to make a false front passenger station? I've checked Ameri-Towne, Walthers, and some others and come up empty. What I'd like to do is put a false front station on the wall behind my passenger area and then add platforms between the tracks. Or I could possibly put up a background with a picture of a station, for the same effect. As you can see in the pictures below, there isn't a lot of room to put a station on the layout itself. I tried a Plasticville Union Station, but that just looked way out of proportion. What I have right now is a K-Line commuter station between two of the tracks plus a platform between the 0 and Standard gauge tracks. It seems to me that a false front on the back wall would give me a good effect.

Hello , I have front of a spanish style station , Orlando has a great old spanish Amtrak pass station , if you go on you tube , and type in search box ,  Bernies Trains official

A 17 minute video shows a layout I built for a customer , about 5 or 6 minutes in I am holding a shallow relief of the station (the front ) only .

My email is in my profile of you are interested , as I have an extra one .

Sounds like a great excuse to give scratchbuilding a try!  Buy yourself some pre-made windows and doors.   The rest is duck soup.

Or, kitbash something. Since I see you are a Plasticville fan, look around for a junk-box of plasticville stuff. Incomplete buildings are a dime a dozen and are great sources for detail parts.

Umm, no. I picked up the Plasticville station for cheap at a train show, figuring it might serve as a place holder until I could come up with something better. It's actually just the right size to fit in the space, but its grandiose two-story architecture looks ridiculous next to scale-size trains (that's the tender of a scale Northern at left). Scratchbuilding is, of course, an option - but I've got more projects already than I have time, and I'm hoping to find something that will fill the bill without going that route.

Bernie, I'll take a look at your video. Thanks.

I know a few of the forum members have used those mth bank buildings (there's some pics on today's Sunday showcase. but if that is too ambitious (it is for me you could try something that I will be doing. DSLShops.com has a savings & loan front. I plan on putting two of them together with an alcove in between where a statue would reside. So, if you took this route, the only thing you would be scratch building would be the alcove, readily available wall sections from monster models or other sources. anyway I am not sure if this is the style of station you are trying to create, but it might be worth a look.
