after taking a long time off from my trains, I'm ready now to change my layout, I currently have 4 loops of trains on a 10x8 layout. Currently have 036 curves I would like to do something different with the curves I'm just not sure one what curves to get. I'M running all post war Lionel

without knowing your track plan, you should consider wider diameter loops for appearance and better operation. Sounds like you would not need O-72, so you might try a loop of O-60 and see what you like. My trains do fine on O-36 but look better on the wider curves.
I have just put down some 048. It seems a good compromise in giving a wider radius but no taking up so much room as 060 and 072.
