Hi all,
I have two 2% grades on my new layout.They are both on the edge of the table. The near side I have on MTH piers under homosote and wood blocks on the far side. I am calling the center aisle the near side. I put the piers in after the picture was taken. I am interested in pictures or ideas for making them look decent. Has anyone done this already?

Your track configuration is remarkably similar to mine. It is an excellent opportunity to develop 3-dimensional terrain. The trick is to treat the raised track as cuts on the side of a hill or mountain or as fills over a plane. Having raised terrain around the outsides of you layout gives you a nice valley -- the opposite of the center mountain "wedding cake" look that is so common and unrealistic.

Pete's pictures are very good examples of how to fix the issue. Here is a few of mine for further info. Mine is a second level but I had the same issue. This is just pink foam board and whacked, cut, chopped and it sometimes drove me nuts working with it. But it was still fun.
