Been trying to work on the layout now that the Holidays are done.  Put an 048 switch on a straightaway of my 060 loop in order to hook up the accessory track and do some switching or hook up the barrel loader/log loader/ or maybe the milk platform to enhance the fun factor.

The 060 loop worked great as a loop but adding this switch is causing the track to pull apart with gaps, power losses, and ultimately derailments.  The heavier the train the quicker this separation process occurs.  The layout is flat except for one small area that is 1/4" lower than the rest of the train table.

I had a similar issue with reversing loops for the Holiday layout but chalked that up to the loops needed a small piece of track to even out the spacing.  A simple loop shouldn't cause that issue, RIGHT?

Anyone have a suggestion about how to correct this issue?
